Oratorical Contest: A Celebration of Black History

For the 2023 contest, students will need to select a prose (written or spoken language in its ordinary form), poetry piece, or original piece that fits within the allotted time, that specifically highlights or involves a celebration of blackness.  This could include any noted speeches by African Americans or poems that involve the celebration of blackness or Black History.

Students must choose their piece based on the time requirement outlines for their age group/division.

Monetary prizes will be awarded to the winners of each group:

Elementary (3rd – 5th grades) - $50

Junior High (6th – 8th grades) - $100

High  (9th – 12th grades) - $200
